I’ll officially call this a rant, even though I don’t rant all that much.  I really don’t watch an extreme amount of television, but it seems like most of the programs I do watch just happen to be on CBS.  I watched the finale of Survivor Micronesia last night.  At one point during the program the audio would cut out.  The odd thing is just the dialog would become almost completely reduced, while the background music would continue to be heard just fine.

It’s very annoying.  I wouldn’t say if this was a random problem on CBS, but it doesn’t appear to be.  I’ve been experiencing this very same problem with audio on CBS for a while now.  A few weeks back during the CBS show Ghost Whisperer, the dialog audio went in and out for almost the whole program.  I was ready to flip out, but of course I kept my cool.

Now I don’t have any fancy setup, just a basic tv with digital cable through Time Warner.  I know the problem is not on my end, as I have heard from quite a few others who experience the exact thing I do.  You would think, just perhaps, that CBS would be able to figure out a basic audio glitch that has been occurring almost a year, or maybe even longer.  Crazy.

Wow!  Talk about a long lasting light.  A visit to centenniallightbulb.com or centennialbulb.com will not provide you much information about the Centennial Light Bulb that burns at 4550 East Ave in Livermore California. The official site of the 107 year old light bulb can be found at centennialbulb.org.  Last I checked the site wasn’t up, possibly taking on too many hits.  I know there was a webcam up at the site at one point in time, but I’m not sure if that is still available.

I do know that PBS included this in a Livermore documentary, which you can view at the PBS Independent Lens website.   This light bulb that shines in the Livermore Fire Department has been noted in the Guinness Book of World Records, which isn’t too surprising of course.  If you are wondering who manufactured the centennial light bulb, it was made by the Shelby Electric Company.

I was just sitting here thinking of an answer to a question that I heard someone ask on tv this morning. The question being “Have you changed your driving habits?”. My answer to that question is very simple to answer, and the answer would be “yes”. I am quite certain that my answer is not based upon the same reasons many other people have. However, the bottom line is that my driving habits have changed. My everyday vehicle is a large truck. I choose to drive a large truck because that is they type of vehicle I prefer. I would lie if I didn’t think about changing vehicles from time to time, simply based on the current fuel prices.

How have my habits changed? That’s easy to answer. I simply have found ways to limit my driving. I don’t take as many unnecessary trips like I have in the past. I have not limited my personal driving habits to fit in with the trend of the global warming crowd. I don’t jump on the bandwagon and “go green” because everyone else tells me to. I am able to think for myself and make decisions based on what I believe makes the most sense.

I do however recognize the simple fact that I have made some changes that reflect upon my own personal lifestyle. When I read about analysts predicting what oil might cost in the months to come does make me think ahead a bit more. I usually don’t take the average analyst’s opinion to heart, but I do take their opinion into consideration to form my own conclusions. Will the rising cost of fuel make me sell my truck and buy a hybrid? Absolutely not.

…in other news.  Today seems like one of those days when all the entertainment gossip is going a million miles an hour and simply tries to sneak itself in with the rest of the other important daily news that is taking place.  For those who like their daily fix of gossip, there is plenty of it today.

It looks like former NBA player Dennis Rodman was arrested in LA.  Shocking story, I know.  It’s been reported he was arrested for domestic violence against a woman, causing injuries to her arm.  Apparently he’s been having some issues coping with his divorce to Michelle Moyer.

Thirsty for more?  Let’s see.  OH, yeah.  The “DC Madam” has committed suicide.  Deborah Jeane Palfrey, or the DC Madam as many people know her as, was found guilty last month of running a prostitution ring.  That story was in the news quite a bit if you remember.

I’ll give you one more.  What is a little gossip without Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown.  The media reports that the Bobbi Kristina, 15 year old daughter of the couple, allegedly attempted to kill her mom with a knife.  And then, tried to kill herself shortly after.  Rumors have been floating around that the divorce of the couple has somehow affected their daughter.  Ya think?

The Beginning. Only the Cunning Will See the End. How about you? Can you solve the triangle mystery?
