If you are a Star Wars fanatic like me, you might find this interesting.  Serious die hard fans of Star Wars may even be quite familiar with this.  If you hate Star Wars and despise anything to do with Star Wars, feel free to move along.  Now, to the good stuff.

AtomFilms is once again having their Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge taking place.  If you enjoy making movies, and enjoy Star Wars, this is for you.  Even if you enjoy watching movie clips and parodies.  Winners of the challenge will have their short film shown on Spike TV.  George Lucas himself picks his personal favorite submission for one of the awards, while fans worldwide can pick their favorite for the Audience Award.  The deadline for the 2008 contest is on May 27th.  Winners of the challenge will be announced by Lucasfilm at this year’s Comic Con in San Diego California.

There have been some really crazy entries in the past, but most end up being pretty funny. You better act fast if you have interest in participating in the 2008 Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge.  To learn more about all the details for this year’s challenge, visit the official AtomFilms website.

I usually keep up with new movies that are in production, somehow this one slipped by me. In September 2008, Disney will unleash their new comedy Beverly Hills Chihuahua. The lead chihuahua, Chloe, has a voice provided by Drew Barrymore. Apparently the pampered doggy gets lost on the streets of Mexico, stripped from the pleasures of life she is accustomed to having. Chloe meets some friends along the way to help her get by. One pup, Papi (who has the voice of George Lopez), helps her find strength to find her way back home. Here’s a short video trailer for the movie. There’ll be more to come! Enjoy!

Fraggle RockI should have known this a while ago, but I must have overlooked the details when they were first released. A Fraggle Rock movie is in the works, actually being developed by Ahmet Zappa. Many of you may not even know anything about Fraggle Rock, I must admit that it was one of my absolute favorite creations of Jim Henson when I was younger. I can even recite the full song in my head at this very moment. Scary, I know.

I believe this project was to begin quite some time ago, but has been delayed or pushed back for various reasons. Whatever it may be, I really hope that the movie takes shape. I’ve always been a fan of anything created by Jim Henson. Call me a Muppet freak geek, but it’s all fine and dandy with me.

I gathered a few short Fraggle Rock videos and clips together for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

This is why I love animation. I’ve always waited for an animated movie with a panda that can kick some major butt. And who better than to be the voice of this martial arts master than Jack Black. I’m looking forward to this Dreamworks picture. I’m quite sure this will be a hit film with quite a few.
