The time has arrived once again, when the Mint Julep has it’s day of popularity. Most know that the Mint Julep is the traditional beverage choice of the Kentucky Derby. And this year, in 2008, the Mint Julep is receiving even more publicity and hype.

Churchill Downs has now unveiled the world’s largest Mint Julep glass, standing at a 6 feet tall. The glass can hold 206 gallons worth of the cocktail, which traditionally is made up of bourbon, mint, sugar, and water. The fresh mint sprig is the garnish, which gives the drink it’s unique flavor and aroma.
