Unassisted Triple Play by Asdrubal Cabrera
Filed Under Sports, Videos | Leave a Comment
Asdrubal Cabrera, second baseman of the Cleveland Indians, did something well worth mentioning during last night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Cabrera was able to turn a unassisted triple play, making it the 14th unassisted triple play ever recorded in the Majors. Cabrera made the diving catch for the first out, stepped on second to take out Kevin Mench who ran on the play, and tagged out Marco Scutaro who ran from first for the third out. Pretty cool sight to see. Now that’s what I call a 1, 2, 3 out!!!

Red Bull Air Races

With the excitement of the Kentucky Derby taking place this weekend, I almost forgot about the Red Bull Air Race World Series that was going in in San Diego California. The event, part of a worldwide series, features some of the world’s best pilots who show off their flying skills in all sorts of ways. I’ve been following this aviation event since it got under way back in 2001. I find it a bit more fascinating each year it takes place, offering a whole bunch of thrill and excitement.
The race is made up of several sessions; Training, Qualifying, Point One, the Super Eights, the Semi Finals, Third Place Fly Off, and a Final Session. The basic idea is to navigate the plan through a series of air filled pylons. Things such as speed and efficiency are the most important, as pilots try to complete each course with the least amount of penalties. There are always exciting moments, and it’s really amazing what some of these pilots have the ability to do.
The Red Bull Air Race World Series website has quite a bit of information to help familiarize yourself with the event. You’ll find a complete schedule, photos, videos, and much more. The event is televised all across the world, so if you aren’t near a location to check it out live, you’ll most likely be able to see it on television.

Did you see that Reed Johnson catch?

Since I’m on the topic of sports today, did anyone see that Reed Johnson catch this past Friday night? I thought it was pretty incredible. The Chicago Cubs outfielder smashed into the wall pretty much head first, but he held on to that ball. Nice one indeed! Check out the video below.

Ashley Force: A Force to Reckon With

Motorsports has always been a favorite interest of mine. NASCAR, Indy, Champ, Formula, you name it. I do take a bit of interest in drag racing as well, and this past weekend has quite a few people talking in the drag racing circuit. Ashley Force, the daughter of 14 time champion John Force, became the first woman to win in the National Hot Rod Association Funny Car racing division.
The humble 25 year old racer celebrated her victory on Sunday at the NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta Georgia. To make it even more impressive, Force beat her father in the finals. This is her second year of racing, and yesterday’s race marked her 27th Funny Car start.
It’s been an exciting time in the field of motorsports, with the win of Ashley Force, and the win of Danica Patrick the previous week. Patrick was the first female to win a race in the IndyCar division. I see a lot of good things to come in the future for both racers. All the excitement is well deserved. A big congratulations to both racers.
