I think most everyone is now aware of the devastation left behind by the recent earthquake in Sichuan China. I am lucky to have never experienced an Earthquake of that magnitude. One thing I never became familiar with is the earthquake lights phenomenon or earthquake lights folklore. Apparently for years and years there have been reports of strange lights in the sky before Earthquakes have occurred. I don’t think these observations have ever really been associated with earthquakes, but it certainly is an interesting occurance.
Earthquake lights usually appear as either blue or red colored lights, somtimes similar to prism colors. Some are bright, some are dark. The types of lights reported have varied over the years. Some of these lights have been said to appear as if they have risen from the ground, while others have been seen above the seas. The lights will usually appear days, or sometimes weeks before an earthquake. There are all sorts of theories as to why these lights appear, but to my knowledge, none of them have been confirmed as the actual cause.
There have been videos now showing these types of lights before the China earthquake. I’ve posted one of these videos below. This particular video footage was apparently captured 30 minutes to an hour before the powerful quake.

Wow, 6 Foot Cow!

I just read about this huge 6 foot cow in England, 6.5 feet actually. The cow, named Chilli, weighs in at over 1 and 1/4 ton. Now, that’s a pretty big cow. Funny thing is that he looks pretty healthy, very lean I guess you could say. The sanctuary that Chilli belongs to has contacted the Guinness World Records to see if a record has been set. Green Puppy: While Everyone Goes Green, Puppy is BORN Green

Oh yes how I love the odd and strange stories we are so delighted to come across. At one time I contemplated creating an odd news site, but then there were just too many good ones out there I thought I would leave it at that. I do however stay up to day with weird, odd, and strange news stories on a daily basis. In fact, here’s one for you today. I just read a news story about a puppy that was born green. Yes, a green puppy. I think this is quite funny right now, considering every Tom, Dick, and Harry is “going green” to save the world from destruction. No offense if you are Tom, Dick, or Harry by the way.
No this isn’t some goofy hoax similar to ones that were reported in years past. You can see the green puppy in the photo that was taken from KARE 11. Although this story may actually seem odd, it’s not all THAT uncommon. From time to time puppies can be born with interesting colors if certain fluids become mixed while the mother is giving birth. The colors don’t last long, and the puppies become normal color after a few weeks or so.

107 Year Old Lightbulb Continues to Shine

Wow! Talk about a long lasting light. A visit to centenniallightbulb.com or centennialbulb.com will not provide you much information about the Centennial Light Bulb that burns at 4550 East Ave in Livermore California. The official site of the 107 year old light bulb can be found at centennialbulb.org. Last I checked the site wasn’t up, possibly taking on too many hits. I know there was a webcam up at the site at one point in time, but I’m not sure if that is still available.
I do know that PBS included this in a Livermore documentary, which you can view at the PBS Independent Lens website. This light bulb that shines in the Livermore Fire Department has been noted in the Guinness Book of World Records, which isn’t too surprising of course. If you are wondering who manufactured the centennial light bulb, it was made by the Shelby Electric Company.

Scooby Doo, Where are You?

Now if this doesn’t sound like a case for Scooby Doo and his crew, I don’t know what would. After browsing through my daily fix of strange new stories, I came across this brief article about a flying human above the skies of Mexico. Now, with all the flying people in movies and tv shows, this isn’t all that crazy. But, this story has it’s fair share of strangeness.
Some of you may remember this story when it first surfaced back in 2006. It’s a trend to recycle stories these days, I know. Apparently after some investigations were done, it is said that the video footage captured of this UFO, or flying human if you will, are authentic. I don’t know if I could say the same. I like to keep an open mind, but I share skepticism from time to time as well. But to claim a “flying witch” as some are doing, ummmmm, no.
GhostTheory.com has an in depth look into this flying humanoid mystery, along with photos and videos. It’s interesting to say the least. Anyone who knows me personally knows I take interest in unexplained mysteries, ghost stories, strange phenomenon, ufo encounters, etc. So, I thought I’d pass this one on for those who enjoy weirdness as well.
